About the Grant
This grant provides financial support for investigative journalism projects focusing on environmental issues with a cross-border aspect, especially in European affairs. Journalists and media teams are encouraged to investigate topics related to environmental protection, destruction, biodiversity, or the impact of climate change. Projects must be collaborative, involving teams from at least two countries, one of which must be in Europe. The grant covers working time for journalists and necessary investigation expenses such as travel, accommodation, translation, and access to databases. Additionally, it supports development costs like participation in relevant conferences or training sessions. The project outcome must be published by at least two professional outlets in different countries, one in Europe. The funding is aimed at enabling journalists to conduct in-depth environmental investigations that have the potential to drive change. The grant covers both working time and investigation-related expenses, including up to €1,000 for production costs. Specific amounts depend on the project’s budget, ensuring flexibility to meet project needs while prioritizing impact.
Who can Apply?
The grant is open to professional journalists and registered media companies that are legally based in at least two different countries. Applicants must work as a team of journalists or media outlets and submit proposals for cross-border investigative journalism projects concerning environmental issues. Eligible applicants are required to provide links to prior work and demonstrate their experience in investigative journalism.
