About Organisation

Journalismfund Europe operates flexible grant programmes enabling journalists and media to independently produce relevant public interest stories with a European mindset from international, national, and regional perspectives. The organization recognizes that while news media and newsrooms predominantly operate nationally, most power structures and societal and environmental problems transcend national boundaries. Through strategic funding support, Journalismfund Europe facilitates cross-border investigative journalism that addresses issues beyond single-country contexts. The organization provides resources for journalists and news outlets to conduct meaningful investigations into matters affecting European affairs, supporting the development of high-quality journalism that informs public discourse and promotes accountability across borders.

About the Grant

This grant programme supports cross-border teams of professional journalists and news outlets conducting investigations into environmental affairs related to Europe. The program addresses illegal, unreported, and unregulated abuse of nature involving European affairs both within and outside Europe. Support extends to investigations of environmental issues transcending borders and comparative investigations into local environmental issues and policies between multiple regions or cities. Grants can fund preliminary work for developing new investigative projects. Eligible expenses include working time, logistics, travel, insurance, legal support access, translations, technology, and data sets. Results must be published by at least two professional news outlets in different countries, with one outlet based in Europe.
