The 2000-square-foot facility at NCBS includes state-of-the-art storage and processing areas to ensure the long-term conservation and public access to these materials. The Archives focus on preserving materials that document scientific culture and contributions, particularly from under-represented groups in STEM. It aims to make archival material publicly accessible through its digital archive, facilitating research and promoting open knowledge.

Who can Apply?

Eligible applicants must be Indian citizens with a legally registered organization in India that can receive the grant. Projects should focus on under-represented groups in STEM, with material from the last 200 years (1850-1995) related to the history of science, technology, and medicine in India. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to preserving and digitizing archival material, and they must have access to physical archives and sufficient experience in archival work. The project lead should be capable of managing the project’s execution, finances, and deliverables.
