About Organisation
The Wellcome Trust, a prominent global charitable foundation based in the UK, is dedicated to enhancing health and well-being through innovative research and initiatives. It supports projects that address pressing health challenges, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The organization emphasizes the integration of research, health policy, and societal impact, aiming to foster a collaborative approach to addressing health issues linked to climate change. Through its funding programs, Wellcome seeks to generate robust evidence on the health implications of climate change mitigation strategies, particularly those tailored to the unique contexts of LMICs, ultimately driving better health outcomes and climate resilience.
About the Grant
The Climate and Health Award aims to advance climate mitigation solutions that yield health co-benefits in low- and middle-income countries. This funding opportunity focuses on generating evidence about the health impacts of climate change mitigation interventions. By supporting transdisciplinary research teams based in LMICs, the award encourages studies that assess both health outcomes and the broader social and economic effects of greenhouse gas mitigation strategies. Projects should align with local priorities, promoting equitable partnerships and fostering collaboration with non-academic stakeholders to drive positive climate and health outcomes over a funding duration of 2 to 4 years.

Eligible applicants for the Climate and Health Award must be established researchers based at organizations in low- and middle-income countries, excluding mainland China.
