About Organisation
Established in 2006, the Clif Family Foundation is dedicated to supporting grassroots organizations that drive positive change in their communities. With a strong commitment to sustainability, social justice, and environmental health, the foundation funds nonprofits working to transform food systems, promote climate resilience, and enhance public health. It believes that impactful innovation arises from local efforts and is committed to addressing underfunded priorities through people-centered solutions.
Now, as its founders have become grandparents, the foundation is even more focused on building a just, healthy, and ecologically thriving world. Over the years, it has provided funding to hundreds of nonprofits dedicated to improving food security, protecting the environment, and ensuring equitable access to resources. The foundation prioritizes partnerships with organizations that align with its values and work at the grassroots level to create meaningful change.
By supporting nonprofits that focus on sustainable agriculture, food worker rights, climate justice, and pollution prevention, Clif Family Foundation aims to make a lasting impact. Through its grants, it fosters resilience, innovation, and equity, ensuring that communities have the necessary resources to build a sustainable and thriving future for generations to come.
About the Grant
The Clif Family Foundation offers grants to support grassroots organizations that focus on sustainability, environmental protection, and social justice. The foundation prioritizes initiatives in regenerative and organic farming, food worker health and safety, climate justice, healthy food access, inclusive outdoor access, and pollution-free environments. Its funding helps nonprofits drive systemic change and improve community well-being.
There are two types of grants available: Open Call and By Invitation Only. Open Call grants provide funding for general operating costs or specific projects and are open to registered 501(c)(3) organizations. Successful applicants typically receive funding ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 for a one-year period. The selection process prioritizes organizations that align with the foundation’s strategic goals, demonstrate strong community ties, and operate at the grassroots level.
Applications for Open Call grants are reviewed twice a year, and grant announcements occur approximately four months after each deadline. The foundation does not fund capital construction, individuals, religious organizations, medical centers, or government agencies. By offering financial support to organizations committed to long-term environmental and social impact, the Clif Family Foundation ensures that local communities have the resources needed to drive meaningful change.
