Recognized for its excellence, MIDS was reconstituted as a National Institute in 1977 under joint sponsorship of the Government of India, through the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), and the Government of Tamil Nadu. The Institute has been a center for applied research in social sciences, with support from institutions like the Reserve Bank of India. MIDS offers advanced research, policy training, and academic programs to develop expertise in social science research, public policy, and governance.

About the Grant
