The Adewuyi Research Animal Foundation (ARAF) is committed to advancing ethical and high-quality animal-based biomedical research in Nigeria. About the Grant
The Research Animal Grant Program supports Nigerian students conducting biomedical or life science research that requires the use of animal models. The programme provides a total grant pool of ₦1,000,000, shared among selected beneficiaries based strictly on merit. Funding is intended to enable ethically sound, scientifically relevant research activities carried out within Nigerian tertiary institutions. The grant encourages responsible animal research practices, strengthens research quality, and supports undergraduate and postgraduate students in completing impactful experimental studies that contribute to biomedical knowledge.
Who can Apply?
Applicants must be Nigerian citizens currently enrolled in a recognised Nigerian tertiary institution. The grant is open to undergraduate students, Master’s degree candidates, and PhD scholars across biomedical and life science disciplines. Eligible applicants must be conducting research that clearly requires animal-based investigations. Proposals must demonstrate scientific relevance and ethical consideration for animal welfare. Ethical approval is not mandatory at the time of application, but proposals reflecting strong ethical awareness will be more competitive during the selection process.
How to Apply?
Applicants must prepare a research proposal focused on animal-based biomedical research, clearly outlining objectives, justification for animal use, and ethical considerations. Eligibility as a Nigerian student must be confirmed before submission. Complete applications must be submitted before the deadline, as late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.
