About Organisation

The Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) drives impactful initiatives in line with Hyundai’s global vision, “Progress for Humanity.” Focusing on uplifting communities, HMIF works across a range of sectors, including education, healthcare, environment, and culture. One of its primary objectives is to foster creativity and innovation, particularly in the arts. The “Art for Hope” grant exemplifies this mission, supporting Indian artists to create meaningful projects that align with social and environmental themes. Through its initiatives, HMIF seeks to empower artists by providing them with the resources they need to bring their visions to life, while ensuring that art remains accessible to the broader public. The foundation’s efforts reflect Hyundai’s core belief that art and culture are vital tools for community building and progress. Art for Hope is not only an opportunity for artists to showcase their talent but also a platform to create work that resonates with societal needs and challenges, creating lasting change.

About the Grant

The “Art for Hope” grant is designed to support artists across various forms of expression, including visual art, performance, digital art, folk and traditional arts, crafts, and community arts. The grant aims to help artists procure the necessary materials for project execution or support their livelihood if materials are already available. Selected artists will receive funding in two phases: 50% upon selection and 50% after the project is completed and publicly exhibited. The initiative is open to artists across India, with a preference for youth, women, and those from non-metro areas. The grant seeks to foster works that address pressing social or environmental issues, encouraging artists to create impactful, community-driven projects. All completed works will be showcased in a group public exhibition in Delhi/NCR or another location as decided by HMIF.

Who can Apply?

Applications are open to individual artists, collectives, institutions, and foundations across multiple domains such as visual and digital art, performance, traditional crafts, and community art. Artists must be Indian citizens residing in India, with a preference for youth, women, and those from non-metro cities. Individual artists must be under the age of 40 unless applying under the traditional arts category. Specially-abled artists are strongly encouraged to apply and may receive additional mentorship and guidance. Artisan cards are mandatory for traditional artists. Eligible institutions include registered NGOs, trusts, museums, and social enterprises. The primary condition is that art must be the applicant’s primary occupation. Previous grant recipients from HMIF or other similar foundations are ineligible. Artists with unique concepts and projects that address community-relevant issues will be given special consideration, particularly those focusing on social or environmental impact.
