About Organisation
The Queen Elizabeth II Commonwealth Trust (QECT) was founded in April 2018 to honour the lifetime of service and dedication of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to the Commonwealth. Her belief in young people and their ability to shape a better future lies at the heart of QECT’s mission. The organisation supports young leaders across the Commonwealth who are pioneering solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Through flexible funding, mentoring, practical resources, and global networks, QECT enables youth-led initiatives to expand their reach and impact. Focused on five key areas—education and employability, environment, food and agriculture, health, and inclusion—QECT provides the essential support needed for young leaders to transform their communities. Recognising that youth-led projects often struggle to access financial resources despite their innovative approaches, QECT works to unlock this potential and ensure these voices are amplified. By creating opportunities, sharing knowledge, and offering vital support, QECT continues to empower the next generation of changemakers, helping them scale their ideas and contribute to a stronger, more sustainable Commonwealth.
About the Grant
In celebration of what would have been Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday in April 2026, QECT has introduced the 100 Young Leaders Awards. This special initiative honours 100 exceptional young leaders from across the Commonwealth who are demonstrating transformative leadership in their communities. Building on the legacy of the Queen’s Young Leaders Programme, this award will provide global recognition to changemakers driving innovation in education, environment, agriculture, health, and inclusion. Beyond recognition, awardees will receive tailored capacity-building support, mentorship, and the chance to apply for microgrants to further develop and expand their initiatives. The programme also connects winners to a global platform, enhancing visibility through media coverage, partnerships, and networking opportunities. By offering access to funders, partners, and field experts, QECT ensures these young leaders gain the resources and exposure needed to scale their impact. This initiative embodies QECT’s commitment to placing youth at the centre of sustainable development, creating pathways for young innovators to inspire positive change, not only within their own communities but across the entire Commonwealth.
