About the Grant
This Request for Pre-Proposals focuses on Wildlife Health & Welfare, with a primary emphasis on mammal health. The grant supports impactful research under four categories: Established Investigator, First Award, Pilot Study, and Fellowship Training. Projects must clearly address animal health needs and demonstrate translational value for free-ranging wildlife. Conservation-focused proposals are eligible only when framed through an animal health lens, with clear outcomes for wildlife welfare.
Who can Apply?
Eligible applicants include established researchers, early career investigators, and fellows working in animal health and wildlife research. Applicants must demonstrate relevant expertise, methodological strength, and consideration of animal welfare impacts. Only one application per principal investigator is permitted. Fellowship applicants must meet specific degree, career-stage, and time-commitment requirements. Research must focus on mammal health, except for Fellowship Training grants, which are open-topic.
How to Apply?
Applicants must submit a single PDF pre-proposal through the designated online submission system. The pre-proposal should clearly define the animal health problem, outline stakeholder collaboration, and present a strategy for achieving meaningful outcomes. Only proposals aligned with wildlife health priorities will be considered for invitation to submit a full application.
