About Organisation
The Zero Waste Academy is a learning platform focused on sharing practical knowledge and approaches related to waste prevention, resource efficiency and circular economy practices. Through educational programmes, the platform connects participants with experts and practical experiences that can be adapted to local conditions. The Master-Composter initiative is implemented by EcoNews NGO, Hnutí DUHA Olomouc, Priatelia Zeme – SPZ and Zero Waste Kharkiv, with support from the International Visegrad Fund and V4 governments. The programme aims to strengthen knowledge about composting and bio-waste management among Ukrainian communities, organisations and individuals while encouraging practical solutions for reducing organic waste.
About the Grant
The Master-Composter: Transferring Czech and Slovak Experience to Ukrainian Communities programme provides free online training on composting, bio-waste management and circular economy practices. The course consists of five specialised webinars running from 22 September to 3 November 2026. Participants will learn from Czech and Slovak experts and receive practical resources through a digital toolkit. The programme is designed for Ukrainian communities, civil society organisations, institutions, initiatives and individuals interested in developing composting systems. Participants who successfully complete the final test can receive a certificate, while the most active participants may receive composting kits or an opportunity to join a study tour to Slovakia.
Who can Apply?
The programme is open to participants from Ukraine who are interested in composting and bio-waste management. Eligible participants can include Ukrainian communities, civil society organisations, institutions, community initiatives and individuals. People with existing composting experience as well as those planning to introduce composting at home, within an organisation or at community level can participate. Applicants do not necessarily need to already operate a composting programme. The course is suitable for people who want to gain practical knowledge and apply composting and circular-economy approaches within their communities or organisations.
How to Apply?
Interested Ukrainian participants should register through the Zero Waste Academy learning platform before 16 September 2026. After registration, participants should attend the five online webinars scheduled from 22 September to 3 November 2026. Participants should actively engage with the course materials, complete the final test and apply the knowledge to local composting challenges. Active participation can also increase eligibility for the additional study-tour opportunity in Slovakia.
