About Organisation

UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. It works globally to advance women’s rights, eliminate discrimination, prevent violence against women and girls, and strengthen women’s participation in social, economic and political life. In Bolivia, UN Women works with government institutions, civil society organizations, communities and other UN agencies to address gender inequality, sexual and reproductive rights and violence against women and girls. Its Bolivia programmes use approaches including community engagement, communication and social and behavioural change to address harmful gender norms and improve access to rights and services. The current programme also involves UNFPA and UNICEF.

About the Grant

The Civil Society Strengthening for GBV Prevention and Social Norm Change grant supports legally registered civil society organizations in Bolivia working through radio and communication channels. The opportunity aims to strengthen organizations’ communication capacities while supporting initiatives that prevent sexual and gender-based violence, promote gender equality and human rights, and challenge harmful social norms. Proposed communication activities can include radio programming, awareness campaigns, digital and audiovisual content, community communication and information about available support services. The initiative focuses on Trinidad, Cobija and El Alto, where broader UN programming is addressing sexual and reproductive rights, violence prevention and behavioural change among vulnerable communities.

Who can Apply?

Eligible applicants are legally registered civil society organizations in Bolivia that meet the requirements of the specific UN Women call. Applicants should demonstrate relevant experience in gender equality, communication, human rights, violence prevention or related areas. Organizations should also satisfy UN Women compliance requirements, including applicable financial, legal and eligibility checks.
