About Organisation
Cambridge City Council is the local authority serving Cambridge and supporting the development of safe, inclusive, and connected communities. The Council works with voluntary organisations, charities, community groups, and local partners to address challenges affecting residents and people who have been displaced by war, conflict, and persecution. Through the Resettlement Community Grants, Cambridge City Council provides funding for initiatives that support refugee and asylum-seeking communities, promote integration, develop skills, improve wellbeing, and strengthen community connections. The programme builds on previous resettlement initiatives and has been shaped by input from people with lived experience, local community groups, volunteers, charities, and other partners.
About the Grant
The Resettlement Community Grants UK programme supports projects benefiting people displaced by war, conflict, and persecution who are living in Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire. Tier 2 provides grants between £5,001 and £30,000 for longer-term projects lasting between 6 and 24 months. Projects must address at least one priority: welcoming and resettlement, integration and community cohesion, skills development, specialist and targeted support, or wellbeing. Funding can support direct project costs and a proportionate share of organisational overheads. Tier 2 applications require at least 5% match funding from another source, excluding in-kind contributions and organisational reserves.
Who can Apply?
Tier 2 applications can be submitted by established groups and constituted not-for-profit organisations with relevant experience supporting refugees and asylum seekers. Eligible organisations include registered charities, companies limited by guarantee, unincorporated associations or clubs, community interest companies, and charitable incorporated organisations. Applicants should have a good track record of working with refugees or asylum seekers or a connection with displaced communities in the local area. Groups without such a connection must provide an outreach plan. At least 5% of total project costs must come from another funding source. Individuals cannot apply directly. Required documents include accounts, governing documents, insurance, risk assessment, and relevant organisational policies.
How to Apply?
Identify a local need affecting displaced or resettled communities and align the project with one of the five funding priorities. Define beneficiaries, activities, outcomes, partnerships, and a realistic budget between £5,001 and £30,000. Ensure at least 5% match funding is secured from another eligible source. Prepare required financial, governance, insurance, safeguarding, risk, and policy documents, then submit the application through the Council’s grants portal before the deadline.
