The Global Fund for Community Foundations (GFCF) is a global organization dedicated to strengthening community philanthropy and supporting people-led development initiatives worldwide. About the Grant
The GFCF Fund 2026 provides financial support to community philanthropy organizations working to advance people-led development and social change. The grant supports initiatives that strengthen local giving, community participation, social cohesion, environmental action, youth engagement, women’s empowerment, and support for marginalized communities. Funding may be used to test innovative approaches, strengthen organizational systems, document impact, improve governance, or develop sustainable resource mobilization strategies. The fund aims to build stronger and more effective community philanthropy institutions that can respond to local challenges while promoting inclusive and sustainable development. Selected organizations may also participate in learning networks and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
Who can Apply?
Community philanthropy organizations, community foundations, grassroots grantmakers, and locally rooted development organizations are eligible to apply. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to people-led development and local resource mobilization. Eligible projects may focus on strengthening community giving, promoting social cohesion, supporting vulnerable groups, advancing women’s or youth rights, addressing environmental issues, or testing innovative philanthropic approaches. Organizations should have the capacity to manage grant funds effectively and implement proposed activities. Preference is given to initiatives that strengthen community participation, build local ownership, generate evidence of impact, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of community philanthropy efforts.
How to Apply?
Interested organizations must prepare and submit a concept note outlining their proposed project, objectives, activities, expected outcomes, and organizational background. Applications should demonstrate how the initiative will strengthen community philanthropy, local giving, or people-led development. Eligible applicants may submit their concept note through the designated application process and should ensure all required information is complete and clearly presented.
