About the Grant
The Conservation Guest Scholars Program provides established professionals and scholars in cultural heritage conservation an opportunity for a three-month residency at the Getty Conservation Institute. During this time, scholars pursue independent research projects free from work obligations, access world-class research collections, and engage with Getty’s intellectual community of fellows, interns, and researchers. The program fosters cross-disciplinary exchange while advancing innovation in heritage conservation and preservation practices.
Who can Apply?
Open to researchers and practitioners of all nationalities.
Applicants must have at least seven years of professional experience in conservation, heritage science, historic preservation, or related fields.
Must have an established record of publications and contributions to the field.
Proposals for PhD/postdoctoral research are not eligible.
Previous recipients may reapply after six years.
Individuals from underrepresented groups in cultural heritage conservation are especially encouraged to apply.
Getty staff and their immediate families are ineligible.

Applications must be submitted online with all required documents by the stated deadline. Proposals involving laboratory use may be considered but are subject to facility and staff availability.
