About Organisation
The Azim Premji Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to building a just, equitable, humane, and sustainable society in India. Guided by the values enshrined in the Constitution, the foundation works to create opportunities and improve the quality of life for people, particularly those from underprivileged communities. The foundation’s initiatives are rooted in education, equity, and social justice, aiming to address systemic barriers that prevent equal access to learning and growth. Through partnerships, research, and capacity building, the organisation actively supports students, educators, and communities to strengthen educational outcomes and foster inclusive development. By focusing on the empowerment of girls and promoting gender equity, the foundation is committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders. The scholarship is one of many interventions aimed at ensuring that no child is deprived of education due to socio-economic disadvantages. The foundation’s sustained efforts over the years have impacted thousands of lives and contributed to transforming the educational landscape, making it more accessible and equitable for marginalized communities across India.
About the Grant
The Azim Premji Scholarship is designed to support girl students from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue higher education. This scholarship aims to address educational inequalities by providing financial assistance to students who have successfully passed Class 10 and Class 12 from government schools and colleges. It focuses on ensuring that more girls, particularly those from economically weaker sections, can access undergraduate or diploma courses without financial barriers. The scholarship provides an annual grant of ₹30,000, covering tuition and other education-related expenses throughout the duration of the student’s first degree or diploma program. This grant not only helps reduce dropout rates among girl students but also encourages continued academic pursuit. The initiative is aligned with the foundation’s broader vision of promoting equity, improving educational access, and empowering communities through education. By removing financial constraints, the scholarship enables recipients to focus on their studies, build confidence, and aspire to contribute meaningfully to society. The program supports students enrolled in recognised colleges or universities across India, ensuring wide geographic coverage and inclusivity. The grant also aims to foster leadership, resilience, and academic excellence among young women.
