About the Grant
Youth4Regions is a flagship programme of the European Commission, launched to inspire and empower journalism students and young journalists by providing direct exposure to EU Cohesion Policy and its impact on regional development. This initiative invites young media enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the workings of the EU through practical learning experiences, mentorship, and press-related engagements. Selected participants receive training on journalism and EU policy, opportunities to visit EU institutions and newsrooms, and collaborate with senior journalists during the EU Regions’ Week. One of the most enriching aspects of the program is the chance to report on EU-financed projects through writing, photography, or video reporting. With all accommodation, travel, and food expenses fully covered, the grant enables participants to focus entirely on learning and professional development. The programme fosters future media leaders who can report accurately and thoughtfully on European issues and regional progress, while also promoting deeper engagement with EU affairs across borders.
Who can Apply?
The Youth4Regions programme is open to students and early-career journalists aged between 18 and 30 who have either studied journalism or have up to two years of journalistic experience. Applicants must be citizens of EU member states or neighboring countries including the UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and several countries from Eastern Europe, the Balkans, North Africa, and the Middle East. Individuals holding Ukrainian citizenship are also eligible. Candidates must have a genuine interest in EU policies and regional cohesion efforts, and they must not have participated in previous editions of the Youth4Regions programme. Applicants should also be available from 11 to 17 October 2025 to attend the full duration of the program activities. The programme welcomes those eager to enhance their journalistic skills through direct exposure to EU institutions and collaborative projects with experienced media professionals.
How to Apply?
To apply, candidates must complete an online application in English and submit a CV, along with either a short article, a photo report (up to 3 pictures), or a 2–3-minute video report on an EU-funded project.
