The organization places special emphasis on creating jobs for youth, the elderly, and economically disadvantaged groups. Its initiatives reflect a deep understanding of local challenges and promote convergence and creativity. Beyond South Korea, the Foundation extends its impact globally, supporting projects in developing countries to generate employment and improve living conditions. Its initiatives empower communities, especially those dealing with poverty, by enhancing local leadership and promoting sustainable economic models. By collaborating with experts and organizations worldwide, Work Together Foundation continues to contribute meaningfully to global employment reform and social well-being.

About the Grant

The Smile Together Partnership (STP), launched in 2011 by the Work Together Foundation, is a global initiative aimed at alleviating child poverty by supporting social enterprises in developing countries. The grant focuses on creating and strengthening community-based businesses that not only provide decent jobs but also empower local people and protect cultural integrity. Through STP, the Foundation works with experienced partner organizations to promote sustainable entrepreneurship models tailored to community needs. These enterprises are encouraged to hire parents and youth, enabling children to receive better care and educational opportunities. Over the years, the program has supported 43 social enterprises across 17 countries, creating over 6,478 jobs and benefiting more than 90,000 children through educational and childcare services. The 10th call for proposals continues this legacy by offering financial assistance, professional consulting, and promotional support to selected projects. This single-year grant aims to build resilient community structures while tackling poverty and unemployment in a way that is respectful and sustainable. The initiative not only helps lift families out of poverty but also ensures that children can thrive as active and empowered members of their societies.

Who can Apply?

Eligible applicants include organizations—both domestic and international—that are actively engaged in combating child poverty in developing countries through the operation of social enterprises or non-profit organizations with sustainable business models. These organizations must have a clear social mission aimed at improving the lives of impoverished children, particularly through job creation for parents and young individuals. The projects should be community-centered and driven by local leadership, ensuring meaningful participation and long-term sustainability. Additionally, the initiative must operate without causing harm to the community or its cultural values, and it should be designed to become financially independent over time. Applicants must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the socio-economic landscape of the community they aim to serve. Experience in managing social enterprises or running community-based programs is highly valued. The selection process involves document screening, a due diligence review, and an interview that may be conducted either online or offline. Preference is given to organizations with proven impact and a replicable model for social entrepreneurship that addresses the multidimensional aspects of poverty affecting children. Strong proposals will align with the Foundation’s goals of employment creation and child welfare enhancement while showing clear plans for scalability and sustainability.
