About the Grant

The Climate Impacts Awards by Wellcome aim to highlight the effects of climate change on physical and mental health, fostering policy-driven action at a large scale. This funding opportunity supports transdisciplinary teams in executing high-impact projects that generate scientific evidence while incorporating engagement strategies to influence decision-making. The award focuses on short-term yet effective research projects that demonstrate measurable outcomes in policy and climate-health interventions. Wellcome seeks to fund projects that bridge gaps between climate science, public health, and policy advocacy, ensuring that research translates into meaningful action. The initiative encourages collaboration among experts in meteorology, environmental science, healthcare, public engagement, and policy-making. Projects funded under this grant should directly contribute to developing practical solutions for communities most vulnerable to climate change-related health risks. The program prioritizes research that integrates diverse perspectives, including those from the public and private sectors, to ensure broad societal impact. With a strong emphasis on influencing policies, the award aims to create sustainable change by equipping policymakers with evidence-backed insights to tackle climate-induced health crises. The funding is designed to support teams that have a track record of delivering impactful research while engaging effectively with decision-makers and affected communities.
