About Organisation

The Youth Start-Up Competition (YSC) is a key initiative under the European SME Week, an annual event organized by the European Commission to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and promote entrepreneurship across Europe. The competition is designed to empower and recognize young entrepreneurs who are passionate about building innovative and sustainable businesses aligned with European values. YSC aims to provide a platform for creative and socially responsible start-up ideas that can drive positive change and strengthen Europe’s economic landscape. By bringing together policymakers, investors, and budding entrepreneurs, the competition fosters networking, knowledge exchange, and new opportunities. Finalists receive visibility at one of the most prestigious business gatherings in Europe, the SME Assembly, and gain access to expert mentorship and industry insights. Ultimately, YSC strives to encourage youth-led entrepreneurship by spotlighting the most promising and impactful ideas, offering them recognition, support, and access to high-profile platforms such as the European Innovation Council (EIC) Summit. With a strong commitment to promoting inclusion, sustainability, and competitiveness, the Youth Start-Up Competition plays a vital role in nurturing the next generation of European business leaders.

About the Grant

The Youth Start-Up Competition (YSC) supports young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 25 who are working on bold and original start-up ideas that reflect the core values of the European Union. As part of the European SME Week, this competition seeks to recognize promising youth-led ventures that promote sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity across Europe. The winning entrant is awarded an exclusive invitation to attend the European Innovation Council (EIC) Summit 2026, providing an exceptional opportunity to gain recognition and expand their network. Additionally, all three shortlisted finalists will present their ideas at the SME Assembly 2025 in Copenhagen, Denmark, in front of a live audience of policymakers, business leaders, and investors. The competition emphasizes creativity, originality, and clear communication in both the pitch and business model documentation. It offers valuable exposure, learning experiences through high-level workshops and panels, and the chance to connect with the European entrepreneurial ecosystem. The YSC is not just a contest but a launchpad for driven young individuals who aim to solve real-world problems through entrepreneurial action while upholding and advancing EU values.
