About Organisation
The Yidan Prize Foundation is a global philanthropic organisation dedicated to improving education worldwide. Established in 2016, the Foundation believes that quality education is one of the most powerful drivers of safer, healthier, and more equitable societies. Through the Yidan Prize, it identifies and champions visionary leaders and researchers whose work strengthens education systems and expands access to learning. By building a global community around awardees, the Foundation accelerates the adoption and scaling of evidence-based ideas and practices that can transform education across regions and generations.
About the Grant
The Yidan Prize is the world’s highest accolade in education, awarded annually in two categories: Education Research and Education Development. It recognises individuals or teams of up to three members whose work has significantly advanced learning, teaching, education policy, or practice. Laureates receive substantial project funding to scale their impact, along with a gold medal and a major cash prize. The award emphasises innovation, transformation, sustainability, and future-readiness, aiming to support ideas and interventions that can meaningfully improve education systems globally.
Who can Apply?
The Yidan Prize is open to individuals or teams of up to three people from anywhere in the world working in education research or education development. Nominations can be made by any person or organisation, and nominees do not need to apply themselves. Eligible nominees must demonstrate strong evidence of innovation, transformative impact, sustainability, and future-oriented thinking in their work. Both academic researchers and practitioners leading impactful education initiatives are eligible, provided their contributions have the potential for large-scale and long-term global impact.
How to Apply?
Applications are submitted through a nomination process. Anyone can nominate an individual or team by completing the online nomination form and providing supporting information that demonstrates the nominee’s impact, innovation, and future potential. All nominations must follow the official guidelines and be completed in full before the stated deadline to be considered.
