About the Grant

UN Women is inviting proposals to improve women’s access to safe and decent employment opportunities in STEM, digital, and clean energy sectors. This initiative focuses on enhancing employability skills and economic participation among women and girls from marginalized backgrounds, particularly in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The project aims to create a supportive environment for women’s economic rights by offering skill development programs, digital training, and direct career opportunities.

The grant supports a range of activities, including faculty training, infrastructure development, and job placements. It builds on the success of a previous phase and expands its reach to additional districts. Key interventions include training ITI faculty, enrolling students in online learning programs, organizing job fairs, and strengthening digital engagement through mentorship and networking. The initiative will also modernize ITI infrastructure and facilitate exposure visits to industries. The goal is to empower 12,000 women enrolled in STEM courses across government ITIs and polytechnics, fostering long-term career growth in high-potential sectors.

Who can Apply?

Eligible applicants must be civil society organizations with a minimum of five years of experience in large-scale skill development and placement projects. The applying organization should have expertise in women’s skilling, employment, and entrepreneurship, particularly in STEM, digital, and clean energy sectors. Experience in designing and implementing vocational training, conducting workshops, and collaborating with private sector companies for employment and leadership opportunities is essential.

Applicants should demonstrate familiarity with state-level policies on women’s employment and should have the capacity to conduct awareness sessions for parents, faculty, and communities. Experience in working with government educational institutions and engaging with central and state departments is preferred. Additionally, the organization must have strong partnerships with private sector companies to facilitate internships, apprenticeships, and job placements for women.

Key personnel requirements include a team leader with at least 10 years of experience in skill development and women’s economic empowerment, along with a team of professionals with at least five years of relevant experience. Applicants must showcase expertise in gender equality, policy implementation, and facilitation of training programs.
