Teaching Assistant Fellowship 2025–2026

Application Deadline:
16 August 2025
About Organisation
The Public Arts Trust of India (PATI), established in 2022 by Sana Rezwan, is a non-profit based in Rajasthan that strives to democratize access to arts and culture across India. Through its innovative programs such as artist residencies, exhibitions, educational initiatives, and community-based engagements, PATI integrates art into daily life and encourages inclusive cultural participation. Its work is rooted in making the creative arts a shared, accessible experience for all, regardless of background or geography.
LAND (Learning through Arts, Narrative and Discourse) functions as a dynamic pedagogical lab that develops creative learning methods through process-oriented art interventions. LAND collaborates with educators, artists, and community members to design curriculum tools and redefine the education experience. It promotes critical visual literacy by weaving together art, storytelling, and social discourse in its curriculum models. Both organisations share a vision of using creativity as a transformative tool in education and society.
Together, PATI and LAND drive initiatives like the Teaching Assistant Fellowship, aimed at expanding the role of arts in education. Their shared goal is to foster a generation of learners and educators who are reflective, community-minded, and committed to creative, inclusive pedagogies.
About the Grant
The Teaching Assistant Fellowship 2025–2026 is a year-long, practice-based programme jointly organised by LAND and PATI. It supports university learners and early-career professionals who are passionate about arts education, innovative teaching methods, and socially-engaged learning. Designed to nurture a new generation of educators and creative facilitators, the fellowship builds on an existing Creative Arts Education Programme developed in collaboration with schools in Jodhpur’s Walled City.
Over 12 months, Fellows will engage directly with schools, museums, and community-based projects to co-design and implement arts-integrated learning models. They will work closely with renowned practitioners and educators from India and abroad in areas such as ecological storytelling, design thinking, folklore, and museum pedagogy.
Fellows will also contribute to participatory exhibitions, classroom interventions, and community outreach projects. The programme fosters deep reflection, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and hands-on experience, enabling Fellows to build a robust portfolio in the field of creative education. There is also an opportunity for selected participants to extend their fellowship by another year, stepping into leadership and mentorship roles.
This fellowship represents an exceptional opportunity for those eager to transform educational spaces through creative practices and inclusive cultural narratives.
Who can Apply?
The Teaching Assistant Fellowship is open to university students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals who are eager to explore creative education, pedagogy, and community engagement. Applicants do not need to have a formal background in the arts. In fact, individuals with non-traditional educational paths or interdisciplinary interests are highly encouraged to apply.
Ideal candidates are those who are reflective, experimental, and open to learning in community-based and immersive settings. They should be comfortable engaging in both English and/or Hindi and must be committed to completing the entire 12-month programme running from November 2025 to October 2026.
The fellowship seeks individuals who are passionate about transforming educational experiences through arts-based methods and fostering inclusive learning environments. Candidates should be enthusiastic about collaborating with artists, educators, and learners to develop innovative pedagogical tools and practices. Fellows are expected to participate actively in orientation workshops, field-based school projects, and ongoing cohort learning sessions.
Applicants must demonstrate a genuine interest in education, social practice, and the potential of the creative arts to shape learning spaces. This opportunity is especially suited to those who seek to make meaningful contributions to schools and communities through experimental, hands-on teaching and learning experiences.
