Second Call for Proposals under Research and Development Scheme of NGHM – India

Application Deadline:
21 August 2025
About Organisation
The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, is the apex body responsible for formulating and implementing policies, programs, and initiatives to promote clean and sustainable energy solutions across the nation. As a driving force behind India’s transition to renewable energy, MNRE fosters innovation and technological advancement to meet the country’s energy demands while reducing environmental impact. One of its major initiatives is the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to position India as a global hub for the production, utilization, and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives. Through research and development, MNRE supports the creation of indigenous, cost-effective, and scalable technologies to accelerate the shift toward low-carbon energy systems. With a focus on affordability, safety, and efficiency, MNRE promotes cross-sectoral collaboration between academia, industry, and government to ensure the rapid deployment of renewable energy technologies in line with the country’s sustainability goals and international commitments. The organization actively supports translational research that bridges the gap between innovation and commercialization, strengthening India’s leadership in renewable energy innovation.
About the Grant
Under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has launched its second call for proposals to strengthen research and development in Green Hydrogen technologies. This grant aims to support innovative, scalable, and cost-effective solutions across various components of the hydrogen value chain. The grant focuses on applied and translational research to enhance the safety, efficiency, and commercialization of Green Hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and application. Projects should align with the R&D Roadmap outlined by the Ministry and must clearly define initial and target Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs). Collaborative projects involving academia, industry, and government are encouraged to promote innovation and knowledge transfer. The scheme emphasizes the importance of sustainability, lifecycle analysis, and real-world deployment potential. Proposal categories include Hydrogen Production (Non-Biomass and Biomass), Hydrogen Storage and Transportation, Hydrogen Applications, and Hydrogen Safety. Selected proposals will receive financial support based on well-defined objectives, technical feasibility, innovation potential, and clarity of expected outcomes. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to building a strong R&D ecosystem that supports India’s transition to clean energy.
