About Organisation

The Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR) is the world’s largest alliance of civil society organizations dedicated to improving the lives of people facing disasters. Established in 2007, GNDR now includes 1,965 member organizations across 131 countries. The network focuses on grassroots resilience, climate action, and disaster risk reduction. It empowers frontline communities, particularly those impacted by climate change, conflict, and displacement, through collaboration, evidence-based programs, and advocacy. GNDR is known for championing local leadership and advocating for risk-informed development. Its current strategy, Local Leadership for Global Impact (2020–2025), has significantly shaped the direction of its work by enhancing CSO mobilization, driving localization efforts, and integrating risk awareness into development. GNDR values inclusivity, equity, and shared responsibility, ensuring that civil society plays a strong role in influencing global policy and strengthening local capacities to withstand hazards and crises.

About the Grant

GNDR is initiating a remote consultancy opportunity for the development of its next Global Strategy (2026–2030). This strategic plan will build upon the outcomes and insights from the mid-term and final reviews of the current strategy. The new consultancy will guide the formulation of key organizational components such as GNDR’s mission, vision, values, and strategic positioning. It will also define future strategic priorities, long-term objectives, and develop a MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) framework with specific KPIs. The process will be participatory, inclusive, and consultative, ensuring that diverse stakeholders contribute to shaping the network’s future direction. Consultants will conduct internal and external analysis to identify emerging issues, localization trends, and resilience priorities. The consultancy reflects GNDR’s commitment to transparency, inclusion, and evidence-based planning and aims to produce a strategic roadmap that reflects the voices of its global membership and aligns with global development and disaster risk frameworks.

Who can Apply?

The consultancy is open to individuals or teams from any country, as the work will be conducted remotely. Ideal applicants should possess strong experience in strategic planning, especially for civil society or network-based organizations. They must demonstrate expertise in disaster resilience, risk-informed development, and localization. Strong analytical and facilitation skills are essential, especially in handling multi-stakeholder, participatory processes. Familiarity with civil society networks and cultural sensitivity in working with diverse global actors are crucial. Additional advantages include policy and advocacy experience and working knowledge of French or Spanish. Applicants must also declare any past or present affiliation with GNDR to prevent conflicts of interest. The consultancy requires a comprehensive understanding of global frameworks related to climate resilience and disaster risk reduction and the ability to translate these into actionable strategic goals and outcomes.
