About Organisation

The Commonwealth Foundation, established in 1965, is one of the principal intergovernmental agencies of the Commonwealth Secretariat. As a grant-making foundation, it is dedicated to supporting civil society organizations (CSOs) across the Commonwealth. The Foundation champions participatory governance by enabling citizens’ voices to be heard in decision-making, particularly on critical issues like health, human rights, climate change, and freedom of expression. Through its grant programs, the Foundation strengthens civil society’s ability to influence policy, build networks, and foster inclusive, equitable development across its 56 member states.

About the Grant

The Open Call Grants 2025–2026 program supports projects that promote constructive engagement between civil society and governments across the Commonwealth. Grants range from GBP 15,000 to GBP 30,000, funding initiatives that align with the Foundation’s core themes of health justice, climate justice, and freedom of expression. Projects should strengthen participatory governance by empowering civil society to contribute to policy development, enhance advocacy efforts, and create meaningful dialogue with governments. This opportunity emphasizes inclusivity, equity, and innovation, enabling CSOs to influence governance systems and contribute to transformative, people-centered change.
