On the Edge Fund Conservation Grant
About Organisation
Our mission is to leverage pop culture entertainment to engage a wider audience with nature and drive conservation efforts for overlooked species and habitats. By integrating storytelling and media, we inspire people to appreciate biodiversity and take action toward its protection. Our approach connects conservation with cultural narratives, making nature more relatable and compelling for the public. We believe that raising awareness through creative storytelling and innovative campaigns can lead to significant environmental impact. Our work focuses on species classified as Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) and the critical habitats that support them. By fostering partnerships between conservationists and storytellers, we aim to influence local behaviors, encourage sustainable practices, and generate long-term conservation success. We support conservationists in scaling their initiatives, providing them with essential resources, mentorship, and visibility to amplify their work. Through funding, capacity-building programs, and networking opportunities, we empower individuals and small organizations to create tangible change. Our ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between science, conservation, and public engagement, ensuring that the world’s most unique and threatened species receive the attention and protection they deserve.
About the Grant
This grant offers six conservation awards to individuals and small organizations working to protect EDGE species or EDGE zones globally. It provides financial assistance, mentorship, and strategic support to scale conservation efforts and promote ecosystem preservation. Selected applicants will receive up to £30,000 over one year, with an optional one-year no-cost extension. The program focuses on enhancing conservation capacity while integrating storytelling to maximize outreach and community engagement. Conservationists will be paired with professional storytellers to influence local behavior change and expand the impact of their projects. The grant seeks to build resilience among conservationists, equip them with skills to navigate challenges, and strengthen conservation efforts in vulnerable ecosystems. Successful applicants will participate in a capacity-building in-person workshop, receive scientific guidance, and gain access to a wide network of conservation professionals. This opportunity is designed to provide comprehensive support, from funding to visibility, ensuring that conservationists not only protect endangered species but also inspire action within local communities. By combining conservation with storytelling, the program amplifies the reach and effectiveness of environmental initiatives, making nature conservation a compelling and relatable narrative for a global audience.
