About the Grant
The Slingshot Challenge, by the National Geographic Society, is a unique opportunity for young innovators to tackle environmental issues in their communities. By encouraging applicants to share ideas through a compelling 1-minute video, the challenge aims to inspire impactful local conservation efforts. Selected participants can win up to $10,000 USD to bring their proposed solutions to life, creating an avenue for youth to transform their ideas into practical actions. This initiative not only seeks to enhance environmental awareness but also fosters collaboration, creativity, and commitment to sustainability.
Who can Apply?
Youth aged 13-18 (at the time of submission) from any country are eligible to apply. Participants can enter individually or as a team of up to six people. The solutions should address environmental issues pertinent to the community, requiring collaboration with peers or local stakeholders. Videos must focus on one of five topic areas, effectively communicate the issue, and show emotional engagement. Content should be original or copyright-free, no longer than one minute, and inspire empathy and action. Applicants are encouraged to include marginalized communities in their solutions and draw inspiration from National Geographic Explorers.
How to Apply?
Applicants can submit a 1-minute video describing their environmental solution through the National Geographic Slingshot Challenge platform. Videos can be in English or Spanish.
