About Organisation
The grant is under the broader Erasmus+ / Jean Monnet Actions, which aims to support excellence in teaching and research on European Union studies globally. Managed by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) on behalf of the European Commission, the programme funds networks, chairs, modules, and other academic initiatives to foster dialogue, research, and capacity building around EU policy — including external relations beyond the EU. Through the External Policy Networks, it encourages academic collaboration between European and partner-country institutions to study and debate EU global policies.
About the Grant
The Jean Monnet Network on External Policy EU-INDIA grant supports the creation of a multi-institutional network focused on EU–India relations and external policy topics. The network aims to facilitate research, discussion, knowledge exchange, and academic cooperation on EU external policy affecting India. Activities may include joint research, publications, courses, policy analysis, peer-reviewed outputs, and sharing of academic work via network platforms. The network must consist of a consortium of higher education institutions spanning both EU and Indian institutions, with the coordinator based in the EU or an Erasmus+ associated country. The grant supports a 36-month project with a maximum lump-sum contribution of up to €1,200,000.
Who can Apply?
Eligible applicants are higher-education institutions (HEIs) established in an EU Member State or an Erasmus+ associated third country, holding a valid Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). Indian HEIs (from India, Region 5) may participate as partner institutions but cannot act as network coordinators. The consortium must include at least 12 beneficiary HEIs, of which at least 6 must be from India. The coordinator must be in the EU (or associated country). Entities from excluded regions (e.g. Belarus, Russia) are not eligible. The proposed network must respect Erasmus+ Programme rules, ensuring academic quality, collaborative governance, and compliance with EU values.
How to Apply?
A consortium of eligible HEIs must submit a proposal via the funding call managed by EACEA under the call ID for Jean Monnet Networks — specifying project design, work packages (research, mobility, dissemination), consortium composition, and planned outputs. The application must include a detailed budget, consortium agreement, and an implementation plan for 36 months. Only applications led by EU-based coordinators will be accepted. All required documentation must be uploaded to the designated application portal by the specified deadline in the call announcement.
Application Deadline
For the 2026 call, applications must be submitted by 03 February (Brussels time, 17:00). Proposals received after this deadline are not considered.
