About Organisation

The Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) is a key international hub for investigative journalists, supporting more than 250 member organizations across 91 countries. GIJN provides resources, tools, training, and technology to help reporters uncover abuses of power and hold those in authority accountable. With a multilingual staff, GIJN promotes investigative reporting globally, enabling watchdog journalists to dig deeper into issues of corruption and lack of transparency. GIJN also co-hosts regional conferences like Uncovering Asia and organizes the biennial Global Investigative Journalism Conference, which serves as a critical gathering for journalists to share skills, network, and learn cutting-edge investigative techniques.

About the Fellowship

The GIJC25 Fellowship Program supports journalists from the Global South and underrepresented groups to attend the prestigious Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The fellowship covers airfare, accommodation, meals, and conference fees. Fellows gain access to in-depth training, panels, and workshops on investigative and data journalism. Fellows are required to produce a story or share knowledge gained post-conference to further amplify the impact of their experience.

Who can Apply?

The fellowship is open to:

  • Full-time print, online, television, radio, multimedia, and freelance journalists.
  • Journalists from developing or transitioning countries.
  • Candidates with investigative or data journalism experience are prioritized.
  • Applicants must have a working knowledge of English.
    GIJN particularly encourages applications from journalists in the Global South and historically underrepresented groups.
