About Organisation
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), headquartered in the United States, is a leading public health institution dedicated to protecting global health and advancing disease prevention and response. As part of its international work, the CDC collaborates with governments, civil society, academic institutions, and private sector actors to strengthen health systems and combat major public health challenges. Through programs like the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the CDC provides technical assistance, funding, and policy guidance to accelerate progress against the HIV epidemic worldwide. PEPFAR has been one of the most significant international initiatives in health, transforming the global HIV response by scaling up prevention, testing, treatment, and care services. In India, the CDC works alongside government bodies, nonprofits, and research institutions to implement evidence-based, sustainable interventions that address the complex challenges of HIV prevention and management, aiming to end HIV as a public health threat.
About the Grant
This grant opportunity seeks to support India’s efforts in ending HIV as a public health threat through accelerated and sustained interventions under the PEPFAR program. The initiative focuses on expanding access to comprehensive HIV services, strengthening community-led approaches, and supporting innovative models of testing, prevention, treatment, and long-term care. Projects will emphasize high-impact, evidence-based strategies such as differentiated service delivery, integration of HIV services into broader health systems, and measures to improve retention and adherence among key populations. The grant aims to bridge service delivery gaps, enhance surveillance systems, and scale innovations that reduce new HIV infections while sustaining viral suppression among people living with HIV. By fostering partnerships across civil society, government, academia, and the private sector, this program intends to reinforce India’s HIV response and contribute to achieving the global 95-95-95 targets.
