Application Deadline:
27 June 2025
About Organisation
The DPI4People&Planet Innovation Challenge 2025 is a pioneering global initiative backed by a powerful consortium including JICA, Co-Develop, the Gates Foundation, CDPI, and BCG. This initiative is launched in official partnership with the COP30 Presidency and represents the world’s first innovation platform at the intersection of digital public infrastructure (DPI), climate action, and equity. The mission is to empower bold thinkers and doers—especially from the Global South—to explore how DPI tools such as digital ID systems, open data platforms, and digital payments can solve real-world challenges faced by people and the planet. The challenge is not just a funding opportunity; it is a global movement aiming to scale up impactful, inclusive, and tech-enabled climate solutions. By facilitating collaboration between DPI builders, ecosystem partners, funders, and innovators, this initiative envisions a future where digital tools strengthen resilience, enable climate justice, and catalyze sustainable development across sectors and geographies. This challenge is an opportunity to drive real transformation using digital tools in areas such as energy transition, climate resilience, sustainable farming, and beyond.
About the Grant
The DPI4People&Planet Innovation Challenge 2025 is calling on innovators worldwide to design scalable, digital-first solutions addressing urgent global challenges. With a sharp focus on climate action and equitable development, the challenge is a first-of-its-kind opportunity that integrates digital public infrastructure with planet-positive innovation. This year’s themes include energy transition, disaster resilience, sustainable agriculture, nature-based solutions, and carbon markets. Winners of the challenge stand to receive up to $100,000 in grant funding to develop and pilot their solutions. In addition to financial support, successful applicants will gain exclusive opportunities to present their innovations at COP30 in Brazil, receive customized mentorship from world-class DPI and climate experts, and join a vibrant global network of practitioners and partners. Participants will also gain direct access to funders, policy influencers, and strategic ecosystem collaborators, ensuring continued visibility and long-term impact beyond the initial grant. The challenge encourages not only technical excellence but also community-driven, context-aware approaches that can be adapted globally.
