Over 350 journalists from 47 countries have participated in the programme, contributing to the professional development of global journalism. The Fellowship honours the legacy of Derek Ingram, a distinguished journalist known for his commitment to improving media coverage of the Commonwealth. Through its close collaboration with Wolfson College, this fellowship offers a unique platform for intellectual and social engagement within the university environment, fostering cross-cultural exchange among journalists.
About the Fellowship
The Derek Ingram Press Fellowship is a fully-funded residential opportunity for mid-career journalists from Commonwealth countries. Hosted at Wolfson College, Cambridge, the Fellowship runs for ten weeks during the Easter Term in 2025. Fellows will research a project of their choice related to any of four core themes: the role of media in a networked world, the improvement of reporting in various sectors, free media in democratic governance, and the implications of AI in journalism. This Fellowship offers full financial support, covering travel, living expenses, and project-related costs. Fellows become members of Wolfson College, gaining access to its resources and opportunities for collaboration with leading academics and professionals, including Professor John Naughton, the Programme Director. It is an excellent opportunity for journalists to develop their research projects and engage in intellectual discourse.
