Conservation Nation 2025 Grant Program

Application Deadline:
14 July 2025
About Organisation
Conservation Nation is a forward-thinking organization committed to tackling the inclusion gap in the conservation field. Recognizing that traditional conservation structures often exclude people of color, Indigenous communities, and women, the organization strives to make the sector more equitable and diverse. Conservation Nation believes that the key to innovative and effective conservation solutions lies in inclusivity. With a global biodiversity crisis threatening ecosystems and species, the need for diverse perspectives has never been greater.
The organization supports conservationists from underrepresented communities throughout their professional journey—from inspired youth to experienced experts. By empowering individuals who have historically faced barriers in the field, Conservation Nation helps build a stronger, more resilient conservation network. Their work emphasizes equity, capacity building, and education to ensure long-term, positive environmental impact.
Conservation Nation envisions a healthy planet sustained by an inclusive and thriving community of conservation leaders. Through funding, mentorship, professional development, and network-building, the organization not only promotes biodiversity preservation but also contributes to a safer, healthier world for people and wildlife alike.
About the Grant
The Conservation Nation Grant Program offers targeted financial support to early and mid-career conservationists working to protect endangered species and ecosystems. Designed to strengthen a more diverse and inclusive conservation community, the grant backs innovative, on-the-ground projects that promote sustainable practices and biodiversity protection. The 2025 program will offer up to US$5,000 per recipient, with a preference for projects that involve field research.
Funding can be used for both ongoing and new initiatives, including pilot projects. It also covers travel for fieldwork, research-related expenses, and personnel support at conservation sites, including stipends for interns and honoraria for guest experts. Priority is given to individuals from undervalued communities who demonstrate active commitment to wildlife conservation.
Beyond financial aid, grantees gain access to the Conservation Nation Network—a professional ecosystem offering mentorship, resources, and capacity-building tools to help conservationists thrive. This supportive community ensures grantees are not only funded but also nurtured as they develop long-term careers in conservation.
Through this grant, Conservation Nation aims to empower individuals whose ideas and efforts are vital to the protection of biodiversity across terrestrial, freshwater, and marine environments.
Who can Apply?
The Conservation Nation Grant Program is designed for early to mid-career conservationists—those with up to seven years of experience in the field—who are committed to wildlife conservation and biodiversity protection. This opportunity specifically supports individuals from underrepresented and undervalued communities working to create meaningful environmental impact.
Eligible applicants include:
-
Individual conservationists engaged in active fieldwork and project implementation.
-
Full-time professionals working with conservation-focused NGOs.
-
Graduate-level and above students pursuing conservation-related academic programs. (Applicants in this category must provide their program director’s contact information.)
-
Individuals conducting work in biodiversity-rich areas, especially those working in priority regions like the California Floristic Province, North American Coastal Plain, Mountains of Central Asia, Guinean Forests of West Africa, Atlantic Forest, and Southwestern Australia.
Projects may focus on terrestrial, freshwater, or marine ecosystems and should ideally integrate the needs of both wildlife and local communities. Whether working domestically or internationally, applicants must demonstrate leadership, innovation, and a commitment to sustainable conservation practices.
This grant supports individuals—not organizations. Only the applicant can fill out and submit the application. Team members or institutions cannot apply on behalf of someone else.
How to Apply?
Applications must be submitted via the official grant portal. Email submissions will not be accepted. The application portal opens on July 7 at 10:00 a.m. EST and will close on July 14 at 3:00 p.m. EST, or earlier if 150 applications are received.
