The Port Coquitlam Community Foundation administers the Community Capital Projects Matching Grant Program on behalf of the City of Port Coquitlam. The Foundation supports local initiatives that enhance public spaces, infrastructure, and shared community assets in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. About the Grant
The Community Capital Projects Matching Grant Program supports tangible capital improvements on public property within Port Coquitlam, BC. Eligible organizations may receive up to 50% of total project costs, to a maximum of $10,000. Funding supports construction, renovations, equipment purchases, park upgrades, sports infrastructure, public art, environmental enhancements, and accessibility improvements. The program operates on a matching basis, requiring applicants to secure the remaining 50% of project costs. Projects must demonstrate clear public benefit, financial feasibility, and alignment with community priorities. Approved initiatives must be completed within 18 months of funding approval.
Who can Apply?
Eligible applicants must be based in Port Coquitlam. Community groups, service clubs, sports organizations, cultural associations, environmental organizations, school councils, and parent-teacher associations may apply. Region-serving organizations are eligible if projects occur within Port Coquitlam and benefit more than 50% local residents. All projects must take place on public property and provide measurable public benefit aligned with recreation, heritage, arts, culture, environmental sustainability, or community well-being objectives. Applicants must demonstrate confirmed matching funds and financial readiness. Organizations with incomplete prior grant projects are not eligible for additional funding.
How to Apply?
Applications are accepted annually from January 30 to March 13. Applicants must submit a detailed capital project plan including scope, timeline, confirmed matching funds, itemized budget, and community impact description. Projects must not begin prior to approval if funding is expected. Applications are reviewed by the City’s Grant Committee based on eligibility, feasibility, financial readiness, and public benefit.
