About Organisation

The Ignite Life Science Foundation is a forward-looking organization committed to advancing scientific research and innovation in areas that directly impact society. With a strong belief in the transformative power of science, the foundation supports initiatives that combine creativity, collaboration, and sustainability to solve pressing challenges. It serves as a platform for scientists, innovators, and institutions to come together and work on interdisciplinary projects that foster long-term impact. Recognizing agriculture as the backbone of India’s economy and livelihood, the foundation has prioritized programs that address the challenges brought about by climate change, food security concerns, and the need for sustainable practices. Through strategic grants and funding, Ignite Life Science Foundation promotes research that goes beyond discovery to include translation and practical applications that benefit farmers, communities, and the environment. Its focus is on building resilience in agriculture by supporting projects that integrate technology, agro-ecological approaches, and farmer-centric solutions. By funding and guiding impactful research, the foundation empowers both individuals and institutions to create pathways for a climate-resilient future. This vision is anchored in its mission to strengthen India’s scientific ecosystem, encourage innovation, and address the agricultural sector’s most urgent challenges with scalable and sustainable solutions.

About the Grant

The Climate Resilient Agriculture Grant has been designed to support innovative projects that enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of Indian agriculture in the face of climate change. This program seeks proposals that go beyond academic discovery and focus on translational research with measurable outcomes. The grant identifies five critical areas: integrated climate-resilient breeding; sustainable soil, water, and carbon management; climate-adaptive mechanization and precision agriculture; agro-ecology and diversified farming systems; and the prediction, prevention, and management of climate-induced pest and disease outbreaks. Selected projects are expected to create lasting impact by offering practical solutions that address both environmental and farmer needs. Emphasizing multi-institutional collaboration, the grant encourages partnerships across academia, startups, farmer organizations, and public bodies to ensure the solutions are scalable and inclusive. With a strong emphasis on farmer welfare, environmental stewardship, and economic viability, the grant aims to build a resilient agricultural system for India’s future. Only up to two proposals will be chosen for funding, ensuring a focus on quality and depth. By providing substantial financial support, the foundation seeks to accelerate scientific advancements that can directly translate into tools, technologies, and practices to safeguard agriculture against climate risks.

Who can Apply?

The grant is open to a wide spectrum of institutions, organizations, and innovators working in the field of agriculture, climate, and sustainability. Eligible applicants include recognized academic and research institutions such as central, state, private, and deemed universities, State Agricultural Universities, national research organizations, and specialized institutes. Farmer Producer Organizations, non-governmental organizations, and foundations engaged in climate resilience and sustainable agriculture are also eligible to participate. Rural innovation centres, incubators, and municipal bodies focusing on urban agriculture or nutrition initiatives are welcome to apply. Additionally, agri-tech and climate-tech startups, small and medium enterprises, and industry-led collaborations are encouraged to submit proposals that demonstrate innovation and impact. To be eligible, applicants must propose research that is interdisciplinary, farmer-centric, and geared toward real-world application. Each proposal should include clear roles for collaborators, evidence of consortium discussions, and alignment with the priority areas identified by the grant. Applicants must demonstrate the capacity to carry out the research effectively, including relevant expertise, infrastructure, and commitment to knowledge-sharing. The evaluation process will emphasize novelty, feasibility, measurable deliverables, and potential for long-term transformation of agricultural practices. Proposals that address social, environmental, economic, and health dimensions of agriculture are particularly encouraged.

How to Apply?

Applicants must begin with a Letter of Interest (LoI) that outlines the proposed research program, expertise of the group, and anticipated impact. The LoI should include consortium details, methodology, novelty, and assessment of social, environmental, health, and economic dimensions. Submissions must clearly define roles of collaborators and demonstrate readiness for translational research. The application process is competitive, with only up to two proposals selected for funding.

Application Deadline

The deadline for submitting proposals under the Climate Resilient Agriculture Grant is September 28, 2025. Applicants must ensure complete submission of their Letters of Interest before this date.
