About Organisation
The International AIDS Society (IAS) is the world’s leading independent association of HIV professionals, committed to driving urgent action against HIV/AIDS worldwide. Through initiatives such as the Collaborative Initiative for Paediatric HIV Education and Research (CIPHER), IAS supports groundbreaking research, capacity building, and advocacy to address gaps in the global HIV response. The society brings together experts, researchers, clinicians, and advocates to advance knowledge, influence policies, and improve lives. IAS has a long-standing commitment to empowering early-career investigators and fostering innovation in resource-limited settings to ensure equitable access to care and treatment for children and adolescents living with HIV.
About the Grant
The CIPHER Research Grant Programme 2025/2026 provides up to USD 140,000 over two years to early-stage investigators. It addresses critical research gaps in paediatric and adolescent HIV, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) where HIV research resources are limited. The grant aims to strengthen research capacity, support innovative approaches, and generate evidence to improve policies and programmes. Priority areas include HIV cure research for children, strengthening the care cascade, re-engagement strategies, and studies that directly inform healthcare systems. The programme not only funds research but also supports the development of future leaders in HIV research and advocacy.
Who can Apply?
Applicants must be early-stage investigators holding a terminal research degree (e.g., PhD, MD), generally earned within the past 10 years. They should not have previously received a non-training research grant exceeding USD 30,000. Candidates must demonstrate institutional support, present a structured research plan, and work under the guidance of a qualified mentor. Proposals must focus on research conducted in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) or other resource-limited settings, with most grant expenses spent locally. Applications are open in English or French. Preference will be given to projects that build local research capacity and directly address programmatic or policy challenges in paediatric or adolescent HIV.
How to Apply?
Applicants must first submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) online. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to submit a full proposal. Ensure institutional support, mentorship, and alignment with IAS’s research priorities before applying.
Application Deadline
Letters of Intent must be submitted by 30 September 2025, 18:00 CEST. Shortlisted applicants will be notified in November 2025 to submit full proposals.
