About Organisation

The Centre for Inclusive Policy (CIP) envisions a world where all individuals with disabilities—regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, or other characteristics—fully enjoy their human rights and play an active role in sustainable and inclusive development. CIP’s mission is to support both national and international stakeholders in designing and implementing policies and development programs that foster the full inclusion of persons with disabilities, in alignment with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and other human rights frameworks.

To fulfill its mission, CIP engages in policy research, analysis, training, and strategic collaboration. It acts as a bridge connecting researchers, advocates, policymakers, and practitioners, catalyzing efforts to advance disability inclusion in public policy. The organization works to strengthen the voice and agency of people with disabilities, particularly from low- and middle-income countries, by ensuring they are central in shaping and influencing inclusive policies. CIP is known for its expertise in inclusive social protection, community-based support systems, and rights-based approaches to disability. Through mentorship, capacity building, and knowledge exchange, the organization is committed to advancing inclusive practices and promoting equity and justice for persons with disabilities across the globe.

About the Grant

CIP’s 12-month Fellowship Program offers a unique opportunity for emerging researchers with disabilities from low- and middle-income countries to design and implement their own research projects rooted in their local realities. The fellowship connects individuals to global policy discussions and provides mentorship, capacity-building, and peer learning opportunities to enhance their skills in policy research and advocacy for disability rights.

This year, CIP also introduces the Disability Data Fellowship, focusing on empowering participants with skills in quantitative data collection and analysis. Fellows will gain hands-on experience and training in generating, interpreting, and using data to advocate for disability-inclusive development. The goal is to strengthen leadership within the disability community and ensure they are at the forefront of evidence-based policy change.

Selected fellows receive a monthly grant of USD 1,000 to support their time and effort. They are also involved in CIP’s global projects and team meetings, allowing them to learn from international contexts and contribute based on their interests. A week-long sponsored training in social protection or a related area is also part of the offering. This fellowship ensures that persons with disabilities are equipped to lead data-driven, inclusive policy initiatives in their countries and beyond.

Who can Apply?

This fellowship is intended for persons with disabilities from low- and middle-income countries who are in the early or mid-stages of their careers. Ideal candidates should already be engaged in disability-related research, policy analysis, or advocacy, and should have a strong interest in transitioning into analytical roles such as legal or policy research, qualitative or quantitative analysis, or budget analysis.

Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to disability inclusion, particularly in areas like inclusive social protection, community-based support systems for independent living, and care-related policy agendas. While experience in training or service delivery is not the focus, preference is given to those with ties to national or local disability rights movements.

The Disability Data Fellowship specifically seeks applicants with an interest in data-driven advocacy. Selected candidates will be trained to collect, interpret, and apply disability-related data in policy contexts. This includes building capacity to train others on collecting inclusive data.

Applicants must be self-motivated, able to design their own research project, and committed to using evidence to influence public policy. Prior experience in developing methodologies or conducting field-based research will be considered an asset.

How to Apply?

Interested candidates must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, three references, and a clearly defined project proposal to office@inclusive-policy.org. The proposal must outline the research question, motivation for the study, and proposed methodology. The selection process includes a virtual interview, and reasonable accommodations will be made based on the needs of applicants. Fellows will be notified following a rigorous screening and interview process.
