About Organisation

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization focused on addressing hunger and promoting food security. Guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Zero Hunger (SDG 2), WFP works in partnership with governments and communities to deliver emergency food assistance, improve nutrition, and build resilience in vulnerable regions. In the Central African Republic (CAR), WFP continues its mission to stabilize food systems, reduce malnutrition, and strengthen local livelihoods amidst conflict and displacement.

About the Grant

The “Strengthening Food Security and Nutrition for Vulnerable Communities in Vakaga Project” aims to improve and stabilize food and nutrition security in the Vakaga prefecture of CAR. Funded by France, the initiative aligns with the 2024 Humanitarian Response Plan and the national food security cluster strategy. It integrates food assistance, agricultural development, and nutrition programs targeting vulnerable households. The project will enhance agricultural productivity for approximately 1,200 households (6,000 beneficiaries) and provide school meals to around 4,500 children, promoting local food production and community resilience.

Who can Apply?

Eligible applicants include national and international non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, and implementation partners with proven expertise in food security, nutrition, and agricultural resilience programs. Applicants should demonstrate experience working in conflict-affected contexts, familiarity with WFP’s operational framework, and the ability to coordinate effectively with local authorities and humanitarian partners. Preference will be given to organizations with experience in integrated nutrition and livelihood programming and those capable of managing interventions that enhance sustainable food systems and local capacity-building.
