Call for Proposals: Quantum Algorithms Technical Group

Application Deadline:
11 July 2025
About Organisation
The National Quantum Mission (NQM) is a pioneering initiative led by the Government of India, aimed at positioning the country at the forefront of global quantum research and innovation. Backed by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the mission is committed to seeding, nurturing, and accelerating both scientific and industrial R&D in quantum technologies. NQM envisions building a vibrant ecosystem in the field of quantum computing, communication, sensing, metrology, and materials by fostering deep academic collaborations, promoting applied innovation, and encouraging industry participation. With a focus on cutting-edge breakthroughs and indigenous technological capacity, the mission supports consortia comprising top research institutions and R&D labs to undertake transformative projects that strengthen India’s strategic and technological capabilities in the quantum domain.
About the Grant
This grant invites consortium-mode proposals from academic institutions and R&D labs for innovative research in Quantum Algorithms. The focus is on bridging theory and application through strategic collaborations, fostering development across areas such as quantum optimization, simulation, hybrid HPC systems, transpilers, AI/ML integration, and novel algorithm design. Proposals should aim for measurable impact, featuring robust timelines, industry collaborations, and technological deliverables. The grant supports the creation and testing of efficient quantum algorithms and platforms, enabling scalable and meaningful quantum solutions. The initiative is part of NQM’s broader mission to transform quantum research into deployable innovations through structured and goal-oriented funding and guidance.
Who can Apply?
Applications are open to consortiums comprising researchers from reputed academic and R&D institutions. Each team must include a Principal Investigator (PI) and Associate Principal Investigators (APIs) with regular appointments, relevant qualifications, and proven research experience in the quantum algorithm domain. Applicants must demonstrate a record of publications, patents, or prototypes in the field. Collaborations with startups or industries are highly encouraged. Lead and member institutions must ideally have respectable National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) standings and possess infrastructure suitable for quantum R&D. It is also preferable that investigators dedicate a substantial portion of their time to the proposed work. Proposals must clearly state the roles and responsibilities of each team member, and include letters of commitment.
How to Apply?
Proposals must be submitted online by the designated Principal Investigator through the Head of the Institution, following the prescribed format and templates.
Application Deadline
All proposals must be submitted no later than 11 July 2025, as per the official grant call timeline.
Last Date to Apply
The final date to submit complete applications is 11 July 2025, with no extensions permissible.
