About the Grant

The Bhumi Fellowship is a two-year paid, transformative program designed to create leaders capable of revolutionizing education in India. The program addresses India’s educational challenges including low learning outcomes, lack of trained teachers, inadequate infrastructure, and poor governance affecting millions of children. Fellows receive hands-on training and on-the-job experience in teaching and transforming schools, gaining in-depth understanding of India’s education ecosystem while working closely with government teachers and school leaders. The fellowship provides comprehensive learning in child development, pedagogical practices, and social-emotional learning. Fellows develop essential skills including project management, collaboration, problem-solving, and systems thinking while receiving competitive monthly stipends of Rs 25,500 throughout the two-year program.

Who can Apply?

The fellowship targets graduates, final year students, and early working professionals aged 20-30 years. Applicants must be willing to commit to the two-year program and placement in one of three Tamil Nadu locations: Chennai, Trichy, or Coimbatore. Successful candidates demonstrate commitment to transforming education in India and becoming educational changemakers. Fellows receive monthly grants of Rs 25,500, in-depth learning and development opportunities, and access to seed funding for social startups upon program completion. The program seeks individuals ready to lead themselves and others with intention and action toward social entrepreneurship while gaining practical experience working within India’s government school system to drive systemic educational change.
