About Organisation
The Atlassian Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Atlassian, supporting nonprofits and social-impact organisations through funding, technology, employee expertise and teamwork. The Foundation focuses on collective action to address complex social challenges and has a strong commitment to improving education. Its current education work centres on helping disadvantaged learners thrive in a rapidly changing world shaped by artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Through grants, technology support and strategic partnerships, the Foundation works with organisations seeking systemic improvements rather than isolated interventions. Its approach encourages collaboration among nonprofits, schools, governments, businesses and communities to create sustainable and scalable solutions for underserved learners.
About the Grant
The Collective Action for Education in the AI Era 2026 provides funding for collaborative initiatives working to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged learners. The programme seeks partnerships that can help ensure AI and emerging technologies reduce educational inequalities instead of increasing them. Selected initiatives may receive up to US$1 million over two years, alongside peer learning opportunities and non-financial support such as Atlassian tools and expertise. The Foundation is particularly interested in collective action that brings together multiple stakeholders around shared goals, implementation and learning. Projects should demonstrate potential to address systemic barriers affecting learners who are underserved or under-resourced.
Who can Apply?
The grant is open to registered nonprofit organisations and charitable entities that work to improve education and opportunities for disadvantaged learners. The lead applicant must be a legally registered nonprofit in its country of operation and must apply as part of a genuine collective-action partnership involving multiple organisations or stakeholders. Partnerships may include nonprofits, schools, governments, businesses and community organisations. The proposed initiative should address poverty or disadvantage and demonstrate shared goals, joint delivery and measurable outcomes. For-profit companies and government bodies may participate as partners but cannot lead the application. Standalone projects, commercial ventures and research-only initiatives are not eligible.
How to Apply?
Eligible organisations should review the Collective Action for Education in the AI Era call and develop a collaborative proposal explaining the education challenge, participating partners, proposed solution, implementation approach and expected outcomes. Applications should demonstrate how collective action can improve opportunities for disadvantaged learners in the AI era. Submit the completed application through the Atlassian Foundation’s official application process before the deadline. Applicants should carefully review the current requirements and partnership expectations before submission.
