About the Grant

MeitY is inviting proposals for innovative projects focused on indigenous technology development with the goal of achieving productization. This grant supports research and development efforts in identified thrust areas, particularly in cybersecurity for women and children, hardware security, cybersecurity in critical sectors, quantum-ready encryption and cryptography, AI security, and vehicle/autonomous vehicle security. Areas of interest include technological solutions for distress situations, malicious cyber events, secure drones and UAVs, VPN detection, securing networks in critical infrastructure, and advanced digital forensics. The ministry seeks projects that can deliver prototypes or products within 24 months, achieving at least Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4. Applicants are encouraged to present well-defined timelines, milestones, and roles, either as individual institutions or in consortium models. Technical and financial feasibility will be evaluated by the Working Group on Cyber Security, which will recommend projects for funding based on innovation, relevance, and national importance. This initiative aims to enhance India’s technological self-reliance while addressing urgent security challenges in cyberspace and emerging technology domains.

Who can Apply?

The grant is open to a broad range of eligible applicants, including researchers, scientists, engineers, technologists, and faculty members from recognized universities, academic institutions, and registered scientific societies. R&D institutions, laboratories, and autonomous government R&D organizations are also eligible, provided proposals are submitted with approval from the competent authority. Applicants may apply individually or as part of a consortium involving multiple organizations, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities. Proposals must demonstrate innovation, technical feasibility, and alignment with MeitY’s identified thrust areas. The expected project outcomes should lead to prototypes or product-level developments within 24 months. Projects must aim for a minimum Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 4 or above. Clear timelines, milestones, and deliverables are mandatory. Preference will be given to proposals addressing critical national security needs, societal challenges, or technological gaps in the identified focus areas. Applicants should ensure that their institution or consortium has the technical expertise, research infrastructure, and resource capability to execute the proposed work successfully.
