The School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE), in partnership with The Deposit Protection Service (DPS), supports organisations and entrepreneurs developing solutions to important social challenges. Through learning programmes, expert guidance, mentoring and funding opportunities, SSE helps organisations strengthen their operations, develop sustainable income models and increase their social impact. The DPS Social Commitment Programme is designed for organisations working to address homelessness, housing insecurity and related challenges in England and Wales. The programme combines specialist learning and development with grant funding, helping early-stage organisations build resilience, improve their services and expand their impact. About the Grant
The DPS Social Commitment Programme: Activate provides specialist accelerator support and grant funding to early-stage organisations tackling the causes and consequences of homelessness and housing insecurity. Selected organisations receive tailored learning, expert advice, peer-to-peer support and access to a wider network of social entrepreneurs. The programme is intended to help participants develop stronger business models, improve organisational resilience and increase their impact on people experiencing housing insecurity. A grant of up to £7,000 is provided to support learning and the development of relevant work. Funding can contribute to staff costs, project expenses, equipment and improvements to organisational systems.
Who can Apply?
The DPS Social Commitment Programme UK is open to early-stage organisations based in England or Wales, with the majority of their beneficiaries also located in England or Wales. Applicants must work to help people access or sustain a home, including through the private rented sector, or reduce homelessness and rough sleeping. Organisations should already have some activity in place, demonstrate potential for growth and generally have annual income of around £100,000 or below for the Activate programme. Organisations led by or serving Black and racially minoritised communities, disabled people, women, LGBTQ+ communities and economically disadvantaged areas are particularly welcomed.
How to Apply?
Applicants must first register their interest in the DPS Social Commitment Programme. Following registration, eligible organisations receive information about the programme, guidance notes and access to the application form. Applicants should review the requirements carefully, prepare details about their organisation and explain how the grant and learning programme will strengthen their work addressing homelessness or housing insecurity. The completed application must be submitted through the online application process before the stated deadline.
