About Organisation

United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations’ leading authority on environmental sustainability. It drives global action to address the triple planetary crisis: climate change, biodiversity and nature loss, and pollution and waste. UNEP works with governments, businesses, civil society, and youth to advance environmental governance, strengthen policy frameworks, and accelerate sustainable development. Through research, advocacy, partnerships, and funding initiatives, UNEP supports systemic solutions that protect ecosystems and promote a greener, more equitable future. Its programmes empower innovators and leaders worldwide to scale transformative environmental impact.

About the Grant

Young Champions of the Earth is UNEP’s flagship youth award recognizing outstanding environmental innovators aged 18–30. The programme honours young entrepreneurs addressing climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution through impactful solutions. Since 2017, it has supported innovators transforming sectors such as fashion, packaging, air and water quality, and endangered species protection. Winners receive funding, mentorship, intensive training, and global visibility to scale their initiatives. The award also provides networking opportunities and media exposure. Supported by Planet A and sponsored by Chris Kemper, the programme empowers young leaders to accelerate environmental action worldwide.
