About Organisation

The Prince Claus Fund is an independent foundation dedicated to supporting culture and development, particularly in regions where cultural expression is under pressure. Through trust-based funding, recognition, and global connections, the Fund empowers artists and cultural practitioners whose work contributes to social change. It focuses on strengthening free expression, cultural resilience, and inclusive societies by backing engaged and innovative cultural actors. By investing in early and emerging talent, the Prince Claus Fund helps nurture new voices and ideas that play a critical role in shaping more just, sustainable, and equitable communities worldwide.

About the Grant

The Prince Claus Fund Seed Award is designed to support emerging artists and cultural practitioners at the early stages of their careers. Each year, 100 recipients are selected to receive flexible, trust-based funding that allows them to deepen, experiment with, and expand their artistic or cultural practice. The award encourages exploration, innovation, and momentum-building without restrictive conditions. By offering financial freedom, the Seed Award enables recipients to invest in materials, research, collaboration, or creative time, helping spark a new generation of changemakers contributing to culture, free expression, and social transformation.

Who can Apply?

The Seed Award is open to individual emerging artists and cultural practitioners who are within one to five years of their professional career, excluding years of formal study. Applicants must demonstrate an innovative and socially or politically engaged artistic practice addressing issues relevant to their local context. Priority is given to those who have received little or no prior institutional recognition or support. Eligible applicants must be from, living in, and working in countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.

How to Apply?

Applicants must complete the Seed Award application form and submit required materials. These include samples of artistic work, a curriculum vitae, a reference letter, and a short pitch video or audio answering what drives them as an artist. Applications must clearly present the applicant’s practice, vision, and social or cultural relevance. Only complete submissions received before the deadline will be considered.

Application Deadline

Applications for the Prince Claus Fund Seed Award must be submitted by 8 January 2026, no later than 17:00 Amsterdam time, to be considered for the 2026 cycle.
