The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (“The Lab”) is a global initiative that identifies, develops, and launches creative financial mechanisms to unlock billions in private investment for climate action in developing countries. Its work bridges the public and private sectors, fostering collaboration and innovation to overcome barriers to climate finance. Since inception, The Lab has helped scale climate-smart solutions that mobilize resources for mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development.
About the Grant
The Lab 2026 Call for Ideas invites innovators worldwide to propose transformative financial solutions that drive climate finance and address region-specific climate challenges. Eight ideas will be selected for development in collaboration with analysts, investors, and experts. Selected participants will receive guidance in refining their models, assessing market viability, mapping risks, and building implementation strategies. Eligible endorsed ideas may receive conditional grants of USD 150,000–250,000, along with global visibility and investor engagement opportunities.
Who can Apply?
Applicants should present actionable, catalytic, and innovative financial solutions that can mobilize private climate investment. Eligible entities include organizations, entrepreneurs, financial institutions, or partnerships with relevant expertise and implementation capacity. Ideas should demonstrate scalability, replicability, financial sustainability, and measurable climate impact. Proposals must outline clear activities, risk mitigation strategies, and a pathway toward long-term commercial viability. Collaborative, well-governed teams with the time and commitment to engage in the Lab’s process are encouraged to apply.
