About Organisation

The Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago is dedicated to advancing evidence-based policymaking. For over three decades, Harris has trained leaders to combine data, analytics, and rigorous inquiry to create measurable impact. Believing that effective policy is a science rather than ideology, the institution equips professionals with the tools to address global challenges through critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and innovative, evidence-driven solutions.

About the Grant

The Harris Social Impact Fellowship is an 11-month full-time program designed for recent graduates and early-career professionals with strong STEM and analytical skills. Fellows receive intensive training in data analytics, economics, and policy design before engaging in a nine-month placement with research centers or policy institutes addressing real-world issues like education, climate change, and governance. The program also includes mentorship, professional development, and a capstone project that applies learned skills to a tangible policy challenge.

Who can Apply?

Applicants must demonstrate strong technical or analytical abilities through education or work experience. Eligible candidates include recent graduates or early-career professionals with a bachelor’s degree conferred before the program start date. Applicants must also be legally authorized to work in the U.S., as the University of Chicago cannot sponsor visas. A passion for social impact and data-driven policy is essential.

How to Apply?

Interested candidates must submit an online application including a motivation statement, technical experience statement, resume, one letter of recommendation, and academic transcripts. Applications are reviewed in rounds, and shortlisted candidates are contacted for further evaluation.
