Through grants, partnerships, and capacity-building efforts, the Foundation amplifies community voices to influence systemic change and policy reform across diverse sectors, including health, environment, and human rights.

About the Grant

The Commonwealth Foundation Annual Grants offer up to £60,000 to civil society organisations within the Commonwealth. These grants support projects that promote constructive engagement between civil society and decision-makers, encouraging participation in policy formulation and implementation.
Projects must align with at least one of the Foundation’s three priority themesHealth Justice, Freedom of Expression, and Climate Justice. Applicants are required to integrate gender considerations and are encouraged to explore the intersections among these themes.
The Foundation particularly welcomes proposals from youth-led organisations, small and vulnerable member states, and those using art and creative advocacy to influence policy. Additionally, shortlisted applicants may propose capacity-strengthening initiatives worth up to 5% of the grant amount to enhance organisational effectiveness.

Who can Apply?

Eligible applicants must be not-for-profit civil society organisations (CSOs) registered in an eligible Commonwealth Foundation Member State.

Projects should be scheduled to begin after August 1, 2026, and before September 30, 2026. Organisations currently implementing or awaiting final payment for a previous Commonwealth Foundation grant are not eligible. Partnerships are encouraged, though only the lead applicant must meet the core eligibility criteria.
