About Organisation
The WFP Innovation Accelerator is an initiative of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), established to source, support, and scale innovative solutions that address global hunger and humanitarian challenges. Based in Munich, Germany, it works closely with WFP’s regional innovation hubs and country offices across more than 120 countries. Since its launch, the Accelerator has supported startups, social enterprises, and internal WFP teams to pilot and scale impactful ideas. Its mission is to harness innovation, partnerships, and entrepreneurship to improve humanitarian assistance, strengthen resilience, and advance progress toward a world with zero hunger.
About the Grant
The Relief & Resilience: WFP Innovation Challenge supports innovative solutions that strengthen humanitarian preparedness, improve relief delivery, and enhance supply chain resilience. The grant provides equity-free funding, mentorship, and operational support to help innovations move from pilot to scale. Selected teams gain access to WFP’s global field operations, technical expertise, and partner networks. The challenge welcomes both low- and high-tech solutions that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure timely, dignified assistance to vulnerable populations affected by hunger, climate shocks, and humanitarian emergencies.
Who can Apply?
The challenge is open to startups, social enterprises, and teams with innovative solutions addressing hunger and humanitarian challenges. Startups must be legally incorporated (for-profit or non-profit) and have at least a Minimum Viable Product, with financial viability preferred. WFP employees may also apply with evidence of country office support and management approval, including collaborations with NGOs, governments, or private partners. Applicants must demonstrate how their innovation aligns with WFP priorities and how collaboration with WFP supports long-term impact and scalability.
How to Apply?
Applicants must complete and submit the official application form outlining their innovation, impact potential, and scalability. Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis, and shortlisted teams are matched with upcoming WFP Innovation Bootcamps.
